Skiing Anyone?

After a four year hiatus from skiing, we’re finally headed back to the slopes.  I booked a trip to Breckenridge today, so in three short weeks, we’ll be sliding down the mountain on our skis (or in Gary’s case on a snowboard)!  I can’t wait; it should be lots of fun.  Now, I just need to get back to the gym to make sure I’m in good shape for skiing.

The weather in Dallas today was gorgeous, especially considering it’s February.  It was a bright, sunny day with temps in the high 60s, so we took our dogs (Italian Greyhounds for those who don’t know them) out for a walk.  They get very excited about venturing outside of the house and heading out on the local trails around our neighborhood.  Today, they met a full size greyhound who was about four months old.  He was gorgeous.

Afterwards, we met up with Grant, Tiffany, and Caleb for dinner at BJ’s in Plano.  Unfortunately, BJ’s was really crowded, and I was starving, so we didn’t actually eat there. Instead we went to Genghis Grill, which is probably a healthier alternative anyway.  We had a nice dinner.  Tiffany has lost 104 pounds; it’s truly amazing.  Every time I see her, she looks better and better.  I’m so proud of her.

We wrapped the evening by watching “Across the Universe” on our new blu-ray HD player.  Gary enjoyed it, but it didn’t captivate me.  I can’t really explain why.  It was one of the better musical films that I’ve seen, and they were able to use 34 songs written by the Beattles to convey a compelling story about young people coming of age during the 60s.   I’m not sure why I didn’t care for it.  Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for this type of a movie.  If you like the Beattles, I recommend that you check it out, and let me know what you think.
