Unboxing the 2021 Phase 5 Diamond Luv Wakesurf Board

Something exciting just happened! After many years of riding a hybrid wakesurf board (Hyperlite Byerly Buzz), I finally got an upgrade…a BIG upgrade. The Buzz has been an excellent beginner-to-intermediate board, and I’ll continue to ride it. However, it does have some limitations. The more I surf, the more I find myself wanting a skim style board that will easily allow me to break free and do surface tricks, spins, and 360s. I need control without sacrificing speed. I also want a board designed for women–both functionally and aesthetically. The Buzz has served me well, but its florescent lime green color scheme has always made me cringe a bit.

After lots of research and lurking in countless wakesurfing Facebooks groups, I landed on the Phase 5 Diamond Luv Wake Skimboard. It’s a scaled down version of the highly lauded Phase 5 Diamond, and it’s made for gals instead of guys. The 2021 version introduces brand new colors and graphics, plus it still has all of the great performance features that made it a hugely popular board for many female riders.

Phase 5 introduced their 2021 line-up a few weeks ago, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting their arrival in the stores! I placed my order, tracked it relentlessly, and now the magic moment is finally here!

Now for the bad news…it’s November, and the lake is pretty cold. I may not get to ride it for a while. When I do, I’ll be back with my first review to let you know how much I love it!
