Purchasing Decisions and The Prison

I’m considering the purchase of another car, so we went on a couple of test drives today. I’ve had my eye on the Mercedes SLK for a while now, and since I miss my BMW roadster, it seems to be the logical choice. The Mercedes C-Class sedan has been an awesome car — nice ride, luxury features, great driving experience, and roomy — but it just doesn’t compare to the fun and excitement of a roadster. The only downside is that I may give up some luxury when moving into a sportier car. So, I wanted to drive both the SLK and the C-Class convertible to see how they compared.

The SLK is a gorgeous car — classy, sporty, and sexy (as much as a car can be sexy). Since it’s a roadster, it seats only two people, and the trunk is fairly small. But, those things don’t really concern me. I’ve had a roadster before and never found size to be a problem. If I need more room, I can always drive one of our other cars. When I took it for a test drive, I instantly felt the difference between it and the C-Class. The ride is rougher, and the interior is louder. However, it also was peppy, powerful, and just plain fun to drive. I pressed the button to open the top, and it became even more fun. Oh, how I’ve missed having a convertible!!

After driving the SLK, I was still curious about how a C-Class convertible would compare so we took one of those for a spin too. It was oddly familiar because it felt almost identical to my current car. However, when the time came for it to give me some power, it seemed awfully sluggish. It certainly didn’t have the fun of the SLK, not even as much fun as my current car. The positives are that it is quiet inside, it has a back seat, and the ride isn’t as rough (or sporty as some might call it). I thought I might like this car better than the SLK, but after driving it I was completely underwhelmed. Another thing I didn’t like much is the soft top and the overall styling. It just doesn’t stand up to the style of the SLK.

We didn’t purchase anything today, but I think I’m one step closer to making a decision. We may go look at an AMG version of the SLK tomorrow. I may be bringing home one of these new toys..ahem, cars…soon — just waiting for that bonus to come through!

After test driving the cars, we rushed home to get the last minute things ready for “The Prison” cast party and DVD screening that we were hosting at our house tonight. Normally, we don’t wait so long after a show to have a cast party, but with the church move and other distractions this Summer, it took us longer than normal this time.

It was a fun night, consisting of food, fellowship, and making fun of ourselves on the DVD. I think we should record our cast party comments and put that on the DVD as the commentary. It would be hilarious!

All-in-all, it was a good day. It’s getting late now, and I have to be at church early to sing tomorrow so I’m going to sign off for the night. Have a great Sunday, everyone!

The first one looks way cooler and you have to take me on a ride with the top

Yeah, I think it looks way cooler too! It’s a deal…I’ll take you for a ride with the top down, and we can play bad mom instead of bad dad…haha!
