My Spouse Took the Plunge

While I was mired down in conference call misery this morning, Gary was jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. He took a skydiving class with a few people from ALC a couple months ago, but when they went to jump the first time, the weather did not cooperate. However, the sunny skies and light winds today offered the perfect environment for their second attempt.

All four completed their first-ever tandem skydive and lived to talk about it. From the sound of it, everyone had a blast. Gary enjoyed every minute of the experience; he said it was surprisingly easy.

On most occasions I don’t have much desire to jump from an airplane, but after the last few weeks, I could use a fun adventure. Plus, it sounds like the thing I hate — the freefall feeling — doesn’t exist when you are skydiving. It’s hard to believe, but they say you don’t get the sensation you are falling. Because you were already moving at a speed of about 90 miles per hour inside the plane, when you jump out it just feels windy — and you have an amazing view. If they go again, I might consider it.

Pretty cool, huh?

I’ve been skydiving, and I definitely felt the free fall, but only for a minute. I wish it had lasted longer. I love your quote- I’ve had it written down for several months but didn’t know Robert Brault said it. I found it on an Ivory soap wrapper! 🙂
