I’m Not Coming Home

Yes, it’s true.  I’m staying in the Silicon Valley area one more day, but not by choice.  American Airlines cancelled my flight home.  If you listened to any news this week, then you know the reason why I’m not going home tomorrow.  AA grounded 3,000 flights; mine was one of them.

I’m currently booked on a Saturday morning flight, and I’m praying that it won’t be cancelled tomorrow.  You are welcome to add your own prayers to mine.  I’m desperate.  I need all the help I can get at this point. It’s been a very unlucky trip so far.

I’m really annoyed that I have to waste my Saturday flying home, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes.  The airline industry is so unreliable, and there’s nothing you can do about it.  It doesn’t pay to get upset.  You just have to take it in stride.

Back on the home front, I missed the horrendous storms that hit Collin county early this morning.  When I awoke, I had a text message from Gary.  The conversation went like this:

2:17 am PT:  “75 mile per hour winds just ripped through all.  I have no electricity and one section of our fence is down.  I can see down fences and shingles all over”

(that was a total shock)

6:11 am PT:  “Yikes!  Is the pool okay?”

(I know what you’re thinking…I could care less about the fence…is the pool okay?)

6:13 am PT:  “Yeah, I think so.  The gate blew into the driveway.  We didn’t lose any fence posts.” (we found out later that we did lose a few fence posts and other sections of the fence)

6:13 am PT:  “And the power came back 90 minutes ago.”

Wow, what a way to begin your day!  The final tally of the storm damage at our house is: (1) multiple sections of the fence are down including the posts, (2) window screens are missing, and (3) shingles may also be gone.  Others in our neighborhood incurred similar damages, plus some of the larger trees have been uprooted.  It sounds pretty bad.  Maybe Gary will send pictures tomorrow.  If so, I’ll post ’em.

Today’s pics:  (1) picture from one of our neighbors of their mangled trampoline and (2) the walkway at my office — it was a gorgeous day here in California.

We didn’t incur any damage at our house, but the neighbor’s tree is badly damaged. Luckily the wind blew the broken and split limbs away from our house.

I’m praying for your safe return on Saturday.

Wow. Way to put me on the hook for pics. They are on their way to you.

Yeah, Gary told me that everything was okay at your house. That’s good news.

Haha! Sorry about putting you on the hook, Gary. No pressure…LOL. 🙂
