Weekend in Review

Why do weekends pass so quickly and Mondays go by SO slowly? The answer to that question seems to be one of life’s great mysteries. Although, it’s probably because we go back to work on Monday, and we pack all the fun into the weekend. You know the old adage…time flies when you’re having fun.

  • Praise Team Practice: Jacob Lowery has been working with our praise team and musicians on a monthly basis. He is a talented musician, worship leader and producer who has worked with CeCe Winans, Michael W. Smith, Bryan Duncan, Russ Taff, Point of Grace, and Phillips, Craig and Dean. Jacob is amazing — we are so blessed to have him at ALC each month. Now if only he would move from Nashville to Texas, it would be perfect!
  • Shopping: I needed a new battery for one of my watches, so I trekked to the Shops at Willowbend to drop it off at the watch shop. Since I had nothing else to do while I was waiting, I “forced” myself to go shopping. It was tough, but I had nothing better to do <wink>. I picked up some new clothes and selected a shower gift for a couple in our church who are getting married next Saturday.
  • Dinner with friends: After the shopping trip, I rushed home to meet up with Gary. We were joining friends at the Cheesecake Factory in Watter’s Creek for dinner. It was a gorgeous evening so we ate on the outside terrace and enjoyed the night — good food, fabulous weather and great company. For dessert, we stopped off at Paciugo’s for gelato…yum! Love it!
  • Church: Got to sleep in today and go to the late service. It was an awesome worship experience today, and we baptized four people! God is just so amazing! I love the way He works.
  • New Property Tour: God is moving in a fabulous way at ALC, and He has opened up the opportunity for us to purchase new property at an incredible price. The building is located just off Hwy 75 at Park in Plano. It’s a terrific location and would give us a facility with 41K sq. ft. and additional land on which we can build a new worship center when we are ready. It’s a big decision, but we are excited about the opportunity that God has given to us. We have run out of space at our current facility, and this space is an answer to prayer. Please continue to pray with us for God’s guidance and blessing as we embark on this exciting journey.
  • Wedding Shower: Shana and Jason are getting married on Valentine’s day, and the church threw a wedding shower for them this afternoon. They are both special people, and we’re really happy for them. I can’t wait to welcome these newlyweds into our young married’s group!

It was a busy, but exciting weekend. I’m not exactly ready for Monday to arrive, but it’s coming anyway so I’m signing off now to get some sleep.

Have a fantastic week!
