Weekend in Review (The Monday Edition)

I had planned to post a “Weekend in Review” blog yesterday evening, but my plan was foiled by some medicine that put me to sleep early — a side effect I wasn’t expecting. The good news is that I’m feeling much better today, and I’m well-rested now.

So, here’s a special edition of my “Weekend in Review” including a Monday bonus feature. 🙂

Friday:

  • Spent a relaxing evening at home. After a long work week with “Launch #1” on Tuesday, I needed a break from real-life.

Saturday:

  • I got up early and headed to the LifeTime Spa for a deep tissue massage. It’s a great way to relieve stress and get those knots out of my back. It felt great; I need to do it more regularly. If you need a good massage therapist, let me know. Amy is fantastic!
  • On Saturday evening, Gary and I had an dinner at Mimi’s cafe in Allen. We then went to the McKinney Art Show where Craig and Julie were displaying their original paintings. It was Craig’s first art show. He participated in the beginner’s category, and Julie in the professional.
  • After perusing the works of art, we walked over to “Coffee and Cream” in the historic downtown square area of McKinney to hang out with our friends, the artists.

Sunday:

  • The day started early because I was scheduled to sing on the Praise Team — it’s an 8 am call time, and Gary wanted to get there early to set-up for the band.
  • We were missing our normal worship leaders, so practice was a little rough. We didn’t wrap up until about 3 mins before church was supposed to start — Yikes!
  • After the first song, Gary and I had to play the role of “greeters” and give out the announcements. We did it a few weeks ago when the regulars were out on their honeymoon. I’m not sure why we had to do it this week, but it gave us the opportunity to do a fun little comedy “bit” for announcements.
  • After announcements, the worship service continued. Even though things weren’t normal and the regulars were out, God showed up in an amazing way. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters.
  • Service One ended, we took a quick break and repeated it all over again for Service Two. Plus, we had a baptism in Service Two — love that!
  • Leading worship for both services is always exhausting. It makes for a long day. Normally, I only have to do it once a month, but this month I’m on the schedule 3 times. It makes you tired. So, we ran some errands on Sunday afternoon and took it easy at night. Besides, I wasn’t feeling well — thus, leading to me taking the medicine which put me to sleep.

Monday:

  • Work = yuck, I hate Mondays!
  • Drama rehearsals at ALC = a fun way to end a Monday.

Have a great week, everyone!
