I Can See Clearly Now

The rain is gone.  The cold and the snow are gone.  And this afternoon, the weather was amazing – it was truly a bright sunshiny day.  Warm, beautiful days like this signal that summer is near, and I can’t wait.  The dreaded winter season is almost over, and that means all is right in my world.

Everything just seemed to come together today:

  - We have a fully functioning garage door again

  - The fountains, lights, and freeze protection on the pool were fixed

  - I was officially set-up at home with a Cisco Enterprise Class Teleworking solution (love it)

  - It was Friday!

Because of the beautiful weather, I took my computer outside and worked by the pool this afternoon.  Need I say more?  Teleworking is awesome!

Tonight, we stayed home, enjoyed Ricardo’s takeout, and watched the new Stargate SG-1 movie, The Ark of Truth.  It provided a decent ending to the longest running sci-fi series on television, but it didn’t knock my socks off.  I never really cared too much for the Ori storyline.  I’m glad they are gone; bring back “Baal” or the original replicators.  It was fun seeing them again in the movie.  Those critters are just so creepy and hard to kill.

I am looking forward to the next movie, though.  “Continuum” will be available this summer.  Richard Dean Anderson returns for this movie, and it’s a standalone story, so I think it will be more to my liking.

Well, that was my Friday Line-up.  Have a great weekend, everyone!

Office Excursion

Today, I decided to venture into a distant land, a place I once frequented every day –the office.  While I don’t miss the monotony of going into the office daily, there are some things I do miss.  Lunches, hallway conversations, networking, and breaks are a few of the things that will draw me out of my self-imposed hibernation at home.  Oh yeah….and the free soft drinks in the break room.  Then again, maybe it was the packages that had been waiting a couple of weeks for me to pick up.

Anyway, I had a nice lunch with one of my co-workers and decided to stick around for the afternoon.  I was hoping to depart a bit early to beat the traffic (one of the things I don’t miss about going into work), but my afternoon meetings ran long.  If you don’t leave before 5 pm, you’re out of luck.  So, I just decided to stay there and wrap up my projects.  I finally left around 7:30 pm (just like old times).  If it wasn’t for Gary, I would be a serious work-aholic.  Of course, he might argue that I am one already.  Maybe I’m in denial.

Tomorrow will be back to the normal routine.  Wake up, walk to my office, and work.  Ah, it’s so much simpler, but there are some potential dangers of teleworking.  You do have to be careful.  Check it out…
