And Here We…Go

Saturday Night Life is off to a running start!

We held auditions tonight. It was a closed casting call since we didn’t have a huge number of parts to cast. Also, we have an abbreviated rehearsal schedule this time so we felt it was important to cast skilled actors who can develop characters quickly with minimal supervision.

Most of our main drama players from Pirates are returning. We have a great group of talented people so not only will it be a fabulous production, it will also be lots of fun!

I’ll be reprising my role as Arianna (the cheerleader) and the Weekend Update news anchor. I’ll also be involved in a couple of new sketches. Rehearsals start next week so here we go…again.

Casting is Closed

We held auditions for Pirates of Patmos tonight.  A decent group showed up — some familiar faces and new ones too.  I’m happy to say that we filled all of the available roles.  We took a few “risks” in casting some characters, but hopefully they will pay off.

Casting is such a difficult process, especially when you are the writer.  As I’m writing a script, I have an image of the character in my head, but I don’t always see that person in the auditions.

Unfortunately, you have to go with what you have.  For the most part, I’m pleased with the decisions we made.  I feel very confident in the casting of the male roles, but I’m a little nervous about some of the female casting decisions.   I guess we’ll know in a few weeks after we get a couple of rehearsals under our belt.

Once rehearsals begin, I’ll take some pictures and provide a “behind the scenes” look at the production.
