With only a few days left in 2009, it’s time to say goodbye to another year. My 2009 had some great highlights — trips to Nice, Monte Carlo, Cannes, Belaggio, and Milan; drama productions like The Prison, Hartburn Hotel, and SNL; celebrating 15 years of marriage; a new car; a new church building; and my first group ride, Tour Dallas. It also offered some lows coupled with lots of work and stress! Although I enjoyed many aspects of 2009, I’m not sorry to see it go. I’m looking forward to a new year with a fresh new start. Here’s to 2010!
But, before we wrap up this year, it’s time to take a quick look back at the most interesting and scandalous events from the last 365 days. No one does it better than JibJab. They squish together the highlights and low lights into a hilarious two-minute video for your entertainment. Check it out.
I’m a big fan of 24, the television show starring Keifer Sutherland, so when I saw this I just had to share it. It’s a video of Jack Bauer interrogating Santa. Hilarious!
The real show finally comes back in January, and I can’t wait! If you don’t watch it, you should. Go buy the season one DVD; it’d be a great gift for Christmas!
For their latest mission, Improv Everywhere went to a Knicks game and had one of their “agents” pretend to get lost. He kept appearing further and further away from his assigned seat with a confused look on his face. It’s fun to watch as more and more unsuspecting Knicks fans joined the effort to help him find his way back.
Something like this would be fun to try with our drama team one day…hmm…maybe when I get more time. It looks like so much fun. Anyway, check out the video below and for more info, visit the Improv Everywhere blog.
First, there was PeopleOfWalmart.com, a website honoring the fashion-challenged shoppers at Walmart. The site features candid pictures captured and submitted by other shoppers frequenting the store. It’s a great place to visit when you need a good laugh.
Now, there’s another site with a similar, but equally funny theme. If you have ever taken public transit, I’m sure you’ve witnessed at least one “what not to wear” moment. In fact, I find many of the people using public transit to be much more entertaining than the ride itself. It’s people-watching at its best.
PeopleOfPublicTransit.com, inspired by PeopleOfWalmart.com, features pictures of eccentric people who didn’t bother to look in the mirror before stepping outside and getting on the bus or subway. You can also find some humorous pictures of the funny things people do while riding. Anyone can submit a photo, and according to the website, a photo submitted before Nov. 30 will put you in the running for a $100 cash prize. Not a bad reward for sharing some humor with the world.
Below are a couple of examples. For more, click here to visit the site now.
I’ve always loved pictures that, when taken from the right angle, change a normal photo into something completely unexpected. I’ve taken a few of them over the years, but I ran across a site tonight with a great collection. Here are a few of my favorites:
And some from my own collection:
Gary in Milan
Washington DC
Pisa
Holding up the tower
The “W” in Dallas
Central Park, NYC
NYC Subway
